Human Revolution Confirmed
Eidos Montreal have used the GDC to confirm that Deus Ex 3 will indeed be renamed Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This instalment will act as a prequel to the original game, and many a rumour has been flung around about a potential title change, none more concrete than a recent trademark filing. Jonathan Jacques-Belletete, Art Director for the title, revealed the news during his presentation at the conference, which he began with a focus on the game's "cyber-renaissance" look.
A whole host of concept art images were shown, along with video footage, to the detail-starved audience, but unfortunately no photography equipment was permitted within the location. Jacques-Belletete told how he wanted to create a unique look and feel to Human Revolution, the likes of which have been previously created by Bioshock and Team Fortress.
The characters dress in clothes which have elements of contemporary fashions; ruff collars, puffy sleeves and geometric patterns of the Renaissance, judging by the images displayed. The reason for this was explained as a want to get away from the "uncanny valley" effect and make them look "more credible". The title will be released for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. No release date has been set as of yet, but we'll bring that to you when we get it.
