'The Ultimate Shooter?'
Codemasters have announced an all new First Person Shooter that is set to 'rip apart' the genre and deliver 'genre defining gun play'. The game is being co-developed by Stuart Black whom some of you may remember as the brains behind the awesome FPS, Black. In Bodycount you play as a powerful combat asset and your aim is to eliminate individuals knows simply as 'Targets' for the 'Network' after you become embroiled in a clandestine global power struggle. With the use of contemporary weapons, players and opponents will be able to 'tear through destructible cover to execute explosive kills in a shreddable world where operatives are encouraged to leave no witnesses'.
Stuart Black said on Bodycount, "We're all massive FPS fans and believe that there's room for a refresh of the shooter experience. If Race Driver: GRID was all about the purity of racing, then everything in Bodycount is absolutely centred on the bullet and its impact on the world." He continued, "Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can't hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell."
Bodycount will also have online multiplayer and co op modes, features that if the game lives up to it's billing, could well redefine the online multiplaying experience. Only a few screenshots have been released at this time and we have to say that it is already looking fantastic. Bodycount is scheduled for a Q1 2011 release date and we'll bring any more on this title as and when we get it.
